How to Make Sure Everything Gets Done before Your Wedding Day

Becoming engaged is a major milestone in any relationship. Once you get there, there’s suddenly so much to be done. After all, your perfect wedding day isn’t going to happen on its own. With all the things that need to be done, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed.

The good news is that there are some things you can do to make sure everything gets done before your big day arrives.

Take Time Off Work

If you need a few extra hours to devote to wedding planning, consider taking some time off of work. Many employers are understanding when it comes to this special time of life and are willing to work with their employees, especially if they’ve proven that they can be responsible and still get their job done the way it needs to be done.

Just don’t take advantage of them and remember to save some PTO for your honeymoon if your employer offers that benefit. When you’re off, be laser-focused on planning your wedding so you can get as much done as you can with the extra time you have.

Delegate Planning Tasks

As you plan your wedding, you may feel overwhelmed by how much there is to take care of. In that case, don’t be afraid to turn to those around you and delegate some of the planning to others. Assign specific tasks to specific people or hire a wedding planner.

A wedding planner can help reduce your stress so you can enjoy the lead up to your wedding. Wedding planners don’t come cheap, but the stress they eliminate can be worth the cost.

Give Yourself Plenty of Time

Part of what makes wedding planning so stressful is how much there is to do in a short amount of time. Do yourself a favor and give yourself plenty of time to plan and get things done. Sure, you can plan a wedding in three months, but that’s a pretty short amount of time to pack everything in (and heaven forbid anything goes wrong). Give yourself a year to comfortably plan your wedding if you can. That way you can get as many elements of your ideal wedding put together as possible.

Preparing for a wedding is an exciting, but often stressful time. It’s easy to worry about not getting everything done in time, given all the tasks that have to be completed. Try not to stress too much though. There are plenty of people and resources you can turn to if you need a little extra help. Your wedding day will arrive at the same time no matter how much stress you experience. Give yourself permission to enjoy the journey along the way.
